Leicester Warriors
The Leicester Warriors are a professional English basketball team from Leicester, Leicestershire, competing in the English Basketball League (EBL) Division 1. The club attracts fans and runs community coaching and grass root teams in the Leicester area. Their home venue is the Braunstone Leisure Centre.
==History==
The club were founded in 2004 by Leicester-born ex-England team and Georgia Tech basketball player Karl Brown, with an emphasis on running community based programmes addressing social issues as well as encouraging participation in basketball. The Warriors claimed their first major trophy on 4 March 2007, when they won the Patrons Cup final against the Bristol Flyers. The final was held at the Newcastle Arena, with the Warriors winning the same 61-55, and seeing former Leicester Riders player Drew Barrett named MVP. In September 2015 (Leicester Warriors confirmed that 2001-born Kareem Queeley ) had signed a 2-year contract with basketball powerhouse Real Madrid basketball.
